What is Village Knowledge Centres or telecentre?

“For providing the knowledge connectivity to the PURA complexes, Village Knowledge Centres will act as frontline delivery system. The main focus of Village Knowledge Centre should be to empower the youth to undertake development tasks of the villages and establish the rural enterprises which will provide large scale employment to the youth of the village. So, it is essential to skill enable and knowledge enable through the academic institutions, industry, banking and marketing institutions. Village Knowledge Centre is one of the essential component for realizing our goal of graduating into a knowledge society and lead to the transformation of the nation into a developed country before the year 2020. VADALUR KNOWEDGE CENTRE:
The project Vadalur Knowledge Centre was started by Mr. John Nelson in the year 2005 after receiving the Jamsetji Tata National Virtual Academy Fellow which is the inducted by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 2005. Vadalur Knowledge Centre has made partnership with various organisations as content and service providers.
Some of our Partners in Development:
- GrameenGyanAbhiyan (GGA) – Vadalur Knowledge Centre is National Partner in GrameenGyanAbhiyan which is chaired by Prof. M.S. Swaminathan and this is Indian telecentre network which is previously names as Mission2007: Every Village a Knowledge Centre.
- Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO) – Shared software with Vadalur Knowledge Centre which contains 18 types of data which can be used for micro planning in a particular village
- Indira Gandhi National Open University – Mahatma Gandhi Rural Community College is registered with IGNOU under the IGNOU Community College Scheme.
- Microsoft Unlimited Potential
- Infosys – Infosys Chennai has donated used computer to SaranalayamChanritable& Educational Trust.
- Anna FM 90.4 MHz – Vadalur Knowledge Centre is shared audio content from Anna FM 90.4 MHz which is India’s First campus community radio for narrowcasting in vadalur.
